BP swung into the black with a profit of $12.8 billion, from the $5.7 billion loss a year earlier.
Q4 net profit of $4.1 billion was ahead of forecasts for $3.1 billion. The surge in gas and oil prices drove performance.
The dividend was raised to $5.46 per share, from $5.25 a year earlier.
