I prefer this line: "Woodside has got itself the stake cheaply, as Conoco conducts a worldwide sale process of its deepwater assets."
This is what we should be considering before making any rash decisions... They are admitting it was cheap because COP wanted out of deepwater.
Think about it, when you're buying a house or a car it's always best to go for the deals where the current owner is desperate to sell... FAR and CNE are not desperate to sell guys. Just because COP agreed to that value doesn't mean we will. In fact, because this deal was so good for WPL it would give them more capital to throw at FAR / CNE to take over.
