Something that has me a little perplexed - I hope someone can enlighten me. Couldn't find a more appropriate forum for this question so I hope it's ok to post here.
WPL is about gas. It releases CO2 into the atmosphere in extraction and by the user when the product is combusted. The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has changed our climate. No argument that CO2 content in the atmosphere has changed, I measured it back in the early 70"s at about 300ppm and it's now over 400ppm.
Total Australian annual contribution of carbon to the atmosphere is about 1% globally(~500 million tons). If Australia stopped all contribution of carbon to the atmosphere tomorrow then the reduction to global output would be about 1% and I can't see how that would improve our climate. Unless USA, China, Russia, India and to a lesser extent Europe(more than 25% of their energy needs is nuclear) reduce their atmospheric contribution, then Australia's effort is meaningless and our climate will not improve.
What it will do is give us the high moral ground, but that high moral ground will not improve our climate nor our economy nor put food on the table.
am I missing something??
