you’ll get 179-180 shares in WPL issued to you for every 1000 BHP. So long as BHP doesn’t retain any of the shares by my calculations. Last time I read I believed the date was to be middle of the year, which would make sense to finalise full year accounts on the petroleum business for BHP as it transfers over.
Its not generous per se. It’s all based on market caps and bhp shares will fall by the amount (value) ie $20bn, circa $4 a share plus franking. So it’s a like for like transaction with no premium. If anything WPL got a better deal.
I hold WPL, will continue to hold post this.
