The way I understand CE is that they don't require an excessive number of lab assays to model the MRE at a global significance level. This is mainly because the assays that back the MRE are primarily based on data collected some time ago. Additionally, it was mentioned that the 20,000 meters of lab data can be utilised to support future upgrades.
