I can assure you many do exactly that, back up the truck near the highs after a stock has run up many bags. You can pick any "hotcopper darling" stock you want and you'll find numerous people who went stupid big near the top and held it all the way down. I remember from the AVZ run in 2017 someone had mortgaged their home to buy up AVZ. If that punter managed to hang on, do you reckon they were smart enough to sell into the 2021 run? I'll bet they're still stuck in it if they didn't puke their stock out near the lows ..
As for those who held it from 20c or whatever price to $2.50 and still holding without taking a large chunk off somewhere much higher than today's price, the same mentality applies to most of them, they won't sell if WR1 is lucky enough to have another run and will end up riding it back down again because "the EV revoluuuuuution". I love the quote from Reminiscences " The big money in booms is always made first by the public on paper. And it remains on paper.", it's so very very true
