There’s another interesting episode where Emmanuel Datt elaborates on his “4 adages to live by as a resources investor”. Please accept my apology if you were waiting to share this one after Renard is acquired and you’re upramping again…
For those that are unaware of Emmanuel, he’s had a very good couple of years.. investing bulk into WA1 very early on, buying up big into coal when it was in the doldrums, and more recently getting into JMS upon news of S32’s Groote Eylandt cyclone bungle.
Anyway.. I digress, I digress, excuse me sir.
What’s interesting is about 20 mins in.
Now there are points of difference between Emmanuel’s example and Renard, but the example revolves around Company B picking up Company A’s multi billion dollar infrastructure in Canada for $50 million during the bottom of a cycle. Company B’s share price kicks about until the cycle turns, but once it turns, the piggybacking off the previously sunk capital provides a huge head start.
Still bullish long term on WR1.
