It’s slightly different for the pure miners because the recent price collapse has been in Lithium Chemicals (carbonate and hydroxide) as China’s domestic processing capacity in Jun was about 80% higher YOY, all loss making. Spodumene hit a low late last year around $850-900, recovered to $1,200 by March and is now around $1,050-1,100. I suspect that China is not unhappy to pay $1,100 as the all-in cost of it own (and African) production is almost certainly a lot higher.
