While that's true, it's also what keeps people hanging on, scared they'll sell out at the bottom. How many were too scared to sell at $1 fearing it would be the bottom and they'd then miss out on the recovery? FOMO in all it's forms kills, it causes people to chase late stage sectors(likely like those chasing gold now or those chasing lithiums into 2023), it causes people to then hold on as the stock falls away and it keeps them hanging on all the way down
