Interesting interview with Dan Holton from ExxonMobil: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/fastmarkets-fast-forward-podcast/id1739089656?i=1000710071905
In it Dan shares that ExxonMobil believes demand for lithium will double by 2030 and triple by 2035. Further as Exxon has done over its history, it will broaden its product base in line with society's needs to include both Lithium and..... Carbon Capture and Storage.
We often hear that big players are not concerned about today’s lithium pricing and Dan affirms Exxon’s alignment with this thinking.
Dan explicitly says “We intend to build a global lithium business that will compete globally. We are starting in Smackover”.
When asked about EM's intentions with Hard Rock, he highlights their relevant experience with Brines and "“So, we are going to start our business in the deep brine direct lithium extraction and we will go from there.”
