I think the important part of the article, if I am remembering same, is that hedge funds have bought much of the bank debt maturing in Dec 2011 at steep discounts. Tsenin mentioned that these creditors with a lower basis may have more patience, flexibility, leaving open possibilities that might not have otherwise occurred.
