I agree with AGO it is a less meaningful evaluation. However normally when deciding when to buy and sell, especially when buying, I'll look at market depth to gauge momentum.

Even with AGO the trick is to look at depth around the market price, and ignore the volume too far from market which is far less meaningful.

for example right now:

it's stable at .035 to .036

Totals incorrectly indicate massive sales volume, to falsely conclude it's better to wait for a lower price.
