WWI: Funding Takes Time – And This Is Why It’s Worth It

There’s been a lot of noise around why the final funding hasn’t landed yet. It’s been “2+ months” since the facility was announced, gold is flying, and sure, the share price has barely moved. But that’s not unusual. It’s how structured project finance works. These deals don’t close with one announcement and a handshake. Right now, WWI is in the tail end of a proper institutional funding process, and when this box is ticked, it changes everything.

    Why does it take time?
    1. Due diligence – Lenders verify everything from geology to financials.
    2. Legal structuring & drawdown terms – Complex, multi-party agreements.
    3. Regulatory approvals – Often invisible to retail, but absolutely critical.
    4. Final equity piece – Equity top-up and cash alignment for first drawdown.

    But here’s what isn't normal:
    • Gold trading at $3,479.45/oz
    • A 5Moz, fully permitted project
    • A DFS based on $2,200 gold
    • A $50M senior debt facility already approved
    • Production targeted to begin in months, not years

This is the classic pre-re-rate setup. Risk is nearly off the table. When final funding is secured, the market will reprice to reflect the margin uplift and project economics. It won’t grind higher. It will step.

Let others wait for certainty. I’d rather be positioned before the headlines hit. WWI isn’t drifting. It’s loading tension. And when that tension releases, it won’t be subtle.
