jpb, no offence to you also, but I don't think you have had much, if any, practical experience of farming animals.
There is a saying - if you have livestock, you have dead stock.
Farm animals die all the time and at times it seems that they go out of their way to find new ways to die or be killed, or even kill each other. That's a reality of life.
