"DNS is stuffed, but as a side effect of the international routing tables going AWOL. Since the Telstra DNS servers can't contact the root servers overseas, only popular DNS records that are cached will work, e.g google, whirlpool.
You could change your DNS to the Optus farm – 61.88.88.88 which would resolve all issues for sites hosted within australia (as Optus still has international connectivity), but international sites would still be cactus."
