In February I will have been "in" for two years and my intent is to remain for some years to come. MUCH has been said (way too much in my opinion) about Alan's overexhuberence. Yes, unquestioningly he got ahead of himself, but before someone else piles on, I think a reasonable observer should factor in the circumstances that likely contributed to his entusiasm. How one interprets those circumstances is, of course, subjective.

Personally I believe that, after living, sleeping and breathing Unilife for years, during which time he undoubtably was faced with a seemingly unending series of challenges, Alan reached a singular, pivotal point when he KNEW Unilife was going to be a success. Having confidential knowledge of what was coming, well, he had to be estastic. Maybe his exhuberence did overflow a bit (or a lot) but I think his motives were genuine. I've listened to those CC's on several occasions and I believe his emotions were genuine. EVERYONE steps in it once in a while. How they jandle a misstep is what counts.To Alan's credit he has moderated his tone.

Alan's comments aside, Unilife's nemesis are the shorts. Unilife's deals are significant, but they take months/years to be finalized and begin contributing to the bottom line. The spacing of deals, combined with heavy R&D investments have given shorts a predictable and profitable playground. However, our day is coming and it's as unstoppable as it is inevitable. It may take one blockbuster, or two, or a series of significant analyst upgrades, but it's coming.... and on that happy occasion we'll all look up to find that most shorts have moved on to another beleagered start-up.
