    My dear gyro, forever with the red herrings isn't it? Of course what has happened with "Dr Death" in QLD has nothing whatsoever to do with the issue we were discussing but I'm sure it suits you to divert attention from what must be embarassing for you Howard supporters.

    But, since you raise it, let's just take a little look at the Dr Death issue shall we? Clearly there is a problem in staffing rural hospitals with well trained medical practioners. What has been the Howard Govt's response? Has it increased funding for the Universities? Has it made significantly more places available for medical training? The answer is no. The Howard Govt has effectively cut university funding in favour of the expedient solution of importing foreign doctors into the country. While the relative roles of state vs federal govts in the vetting of such imports is unclear (to me at least), the Howard Govt with its increasing control over the tertiary sector is clearly to blame for the problem.
