First state visit since 2013. Coincidence I think not. Both US and China are largest trading partners of Malaysia at the same time that US has tariffed Malaysia 24% and represents a significant bargaining chip for President Trump. President Xi is lining up support from Vietnam and Cambodia to deal with negotiations with US which are now being discussed and all have been tariffed by US who alone can grant relief. This is at a time when the world appears to be going through a period of de-dollarization. We will see where that goes.
