I can't see that having much of an affect on such a widespread movement. It seems to me that the general HK population fear becoming Chinese and are fighting to get permanent autonomous status. Who could blame them.
China constantly throws out threats to other nations and then takes great offense at insignificant remarks to whip up it's brain washed people to be ready for war.
