From what I can gather, the results (particularly revenue) were much better than expected, because (after recent results, including Apple) everyone thought PC market was done and dusted in the short term, but DELL's sales were OK and they gave positive guidance for the remainder of the year.
Anyway, that is what the analysts are saying, I haven't looked into it.
I was more surprised to discover that DELL are not in the SP500.
