The top chart shows two main things :-

1) US imports are crashing, and . . .

2) . . . when that happens everything crashes along with it.



Also, the chart below shows that the banks are tightening their lending standards (i.e. clamming up) while all home price transactions are falling. This crossover happens just before a crash! (Fed must have warned the banks on what's about to happen). BTY, Country Garden is back in the news - a default seems immanent. (See here.) Maybe that's the Lehman Brothers moment the market is waiting for?
