Interesting. Traditionally stores used Boxing Day to clear Xmas stock, and also to boost revenue figures (the reason for most sales).. Could be one of 4 things
Either way, its not the sign of a bull demand economy. London extremely expensive to live in. UK next to slide into recession. (yeah Ive been saying it for a while)
- Is there another Covid outbreak? (one of the pedestrians in the video mentioned it?)
- IS this Black Friday sale a thing now in the UK, so maybe that usurps Boxing Day sales?
- Or as you intimate, retail figurs are so poor they just dont think its worth paying staff triple time on a public holiday?
- Or have peeps become so used to getting a post Xmas day bargain, they delay their Xmas shopping to wait for cheaper sales, and then have Xmas a little late? (quite few people actually do this - obviously not religious ) If thats a big enough thing, then Xmas isnt as profitable for shops anymore?

Also , no taxes in Saudi Ar. The state pays for everything so they need those oil revenues.
