IS everyone long Tech, SPX, Gold/Commodities? I don't think they are, investors have been moving to the short side for years and forced to cover constantly. When US markets go up I think it's usually mostly to do with short squeezes. With fiat systems, the debt and deficits scare the crap out of investors looking at these fiscal cliffs they conclude, ok this it, this baby is going down, but the dip is bought and more money comes into the market.
There is a lot of spending from gov and industry, US gov $1 Trillion deficit each quarter, BIG tech spending between $1-$10 Trillion over 4 years, China is printing heaps now. I don't see the markets going down but more likely up.
