    I do from time to time read my old stuff.
    I don't think I've changed much.

    I just saw this from 2008:


    Of course, every day there is a new batch of newbies graduating from trading seminars with a chart package thinking that they can trade their way to wealth. It has never happened, never will.

    What does happen is that they take mindless risks and go bust.

    Others, will try to time the market and end up underperforming through a) inaction b) miss-timing and c) p1ssing away valuable capital through transaction costs and Capital Gains Tax.

    I've been around for a while to observe those who have succeeded in this game through sensibly acquiring assets over time and I have also seen several generations of newbies who have fallen flat on their face.

    Of course there is always a chance that there are people out there who have accumulated wealth through trading, but since I have never met anyone they must also have mastered the art of hiding their wealth well, which is something Buffett has not managed to do
