You raise more good points, indeed the rich hate paying more in taxes, but the rich are privy to advice before events occur, that's usually how they became rich in the first place. Anyone knows a fool and their money are soon separated.
The key point to what is going to happen isn't something that will be so unusual, it will be dire as it will affect the world stability, economically, geographically, financially, and socially for decades to come.
Change has happened too fast, the border and immigration in America has occurred at lightning rates compared to the past when it would be years before this amount of immigrants could be absorbed into the societal system, and become independently tax paying citizens and build wealth. For themselves and the nation as a whole.

But a more interesting point is that whilst this is happening, it creates a revolution of unity between higher private elites and government institutions that will eventually merge together to create their own policies and order. Some call it communism. But that term rather refers to a more militiary style of governance.

But the poor will revolt, and then of course the elites will protect themselves with what ever means they have. War is a consequence of such equations, locally and globally. Funny that it seems to be sort happening now.
