10-15 years ago, an average family with two working people could pretty much save the entire second income. In comparison, today, without that second income families struggle to put food on the table. The living standards have changed significantly. I’d say middle class had to cut down on luxuries like travel, dining, activities for kids, etc. But part time workers, single income families, lower income groups are definitely struggling with the basics imho.
