No contango means that the price of vix usually goes up the further out the futures contracts.
Right now we are almost looking at vix being higher in the short term and the futures contracts going lower, a few posts back I posted a paper on it.
When Vix is out of contango it can be a good indicator of a full blown crash is incoming.
As in vix runs so hard in the near term and the futures contracts dont keep up with it.
