The major reason why migration to Florida has fallen (& a sharp drop in "demand for real estate") is the weather (hurricanes) & the very high cost of insurance due to the risk profile.
To make matters worse there are fewer insurance companies as many have left Florida. It is even difficult to get a home mortgage on certain types of houses due to the risk of damage from hurricances.
There is no long term data to show a marked increase in hurricanes (although you do have the numbskulls on X who blame the govt for manipulating the weather) but the reason for the increase in home insurance (even in Oz) is due to the high construction costs.
