I do not think this conflict will be over with quickly nor do I see it lastly nowhere near as long as the Ukraine/Russia conflict which will likely continue into next year. In Iran as we speak (I am married to a Persian and worked for in the foreign affairs setting in the past/have lived in Iran and have many Persian Jewish family and friends). Right now, many Iranians in Iran have hope like never before. There were Trump parties all over the country when he was elected. Never shown in the Western media. Do they feel he is competent/sane or good for the globe? Of course not. However, after 46 years of a corrupt government that has led to a horrific eight-year war, economic and social ruin and a huge brain drain the people of Iran (especially the highly educated young) want regime change like never before!!! Never before have they felt it is in reach. Biden pumped the Mullahs up. My in-laws and friends there now are just concentrating on tackling the inflation that is bad enough and about to shift into hyperinflation likely and pray for regime change. This is still no easy task and may not occur, but the odds are much higher now.
Do they like Bibi? Of course not. He is a sociopathic war monger of epic proportions and dangerous to the region and world. That includes Israel. Economic pressure after this military conflict will be the breaking point. Already the last 6 months many teachers and fellow public servants have not been getting paid properly. Bibbi talks to Iranians almost weekly via Elon Musk channel. His words " My Persian brothers and sisters of the great Persian nation - your time is ever so near - your rial will rise significantly, your tourism industry will boom - Israel and Iran will once again be united as in past history ......"
This is not the narrative of a nation looking at creating an enemy of the people of that nation. Unlike the very dehumanising language he uses towards Palestinians. Expect this conflict to last weeks or months - not years. Expect regime change within a year is the consensus amongst foreign affairs circles. The quicker the Mullahs and Bibi are gone the better IMHO. Like the Reeper (who I say thank you to for such consistently accurate analysis) I feel we are in for a short sharp drop over the next 4-6 months (apart from war related stocks - rare earths etc). Time alone will tell. Importantly, hope for as little suffering for the innocent citizens as possible for all sides. It is bad enough watching the pain of families of the hostages and the genocide in Gaza.
