I imagine this changes the success rate of morning gap trades. I think the staggered open was partly the reason for creating gaps which used to quickly fill in a few minutes once the market settled — providing good opportunities for a quick gap trade. With new system, it will be more like the “gap and go” pattern that we see in other markets, which usually fill over longer time frames.
