Mamdani’s emphasis on socialism and redistribution of wealth runs counter to Wall Street’s preference for unbridled capitalism and policies that support growth, such as deregulation and low taxes.

The 33-year-old has supported taxing the ultra-wealthy, financial transactions and passive income like dividends. He has also endorsed a state-level wealth tax and increased marginal income tax rates on high earners.


What happened to the the bull claims that the elites would just spend us into 3rd world countries while the people do nothing but watch them inflate their asset prices? Seems the people woke up? Higher taxes for the wealthy incoming around the world seems to be the growing trend now? Even here Labor destroyed the Liberals in the election on essentially promises of higher taxes for the wealthy.

And it won't stop with an unrealized capital gains tax on super, I will let everyone else guess what I think will follow soon. Hint, think property. But this is what I have been talking about, the people will never vote themselves into poverty while the rich get richer. That or its revolution and their won't be any elites which they are smart enough to realize. Hence markets are also unsustainable for the same reason.
