Wasn't the economy shit in the 1970s so the interest rate cut was to stimulate the economy???? This is a big difference to now as the labour market is still very strong after a global pandemic and the very high inflation was mainly caused by supply chain issue with other countries reopen at different time. This is why there's been sell off when there's any sign of interest rate cut being delayed.
