“Trump said his tariffs already are bringing in almost $2 billion a day. This includes the baseline 10% tariffs that took effect on Saturday on imports from around the world, plus other tariffs on things like steel and aluminum.”

Again Trump over stating the effects According to US Treasury and Customs, tariff revenue during Trump’s peak trade war in 2019-2020 was about $80–90 billion annually, so roughly $220–250 million per day.

Even if you add more recent tariffs and bump that number up a bit, you’re still looking at maybe $300–400 million per day at the high end.

So 2 billion/day is not feasible based on current trade volumes and tariff structures. Probably the real number would be 5 to 10 times smaller.

Can they be this dumb? As tariffs are a tax on Americans, not free money from other countries.
