Went to the Australian Chamber Orchestra again last night. Beethoven's 9th with choir for Ode to Joy finale.
It's a little hard for a chamber orchestra to pull off a symphony in a small hall but credit to them.
I was thinking during the second movement that no one really listens to the 9th; preferring to jump to the good part at the end. But without listening to it in its entirety you miss the hints of what is to come, the little visions hidden within the music telling you the future.
Anyway, close to Salzburg; a very good performance.
