Just want to address this assumption:

brings anticipation of lower taxes in Australia (or else we become less competitive).

Even with the current taxe rates we are struggling to bring our deficit down. To bring taxes lower spending would have to be cut which will be detrimental to our economy so the result of lower taxes in the US will be that we will become less competetive .. period.

It’s important to note the term competetive doesn’t refer to market competetive rather australia market competing to attract businesses.

Further more the US is one of the easiest countries for Australian business to move into hence lower taxes there will result in exodus of medium size businesses who are agile enough to move their entire operations to the US.
