"Predictions are for losers" - don't believe it. There are statistical techniques that are used to predict the near future and high speed trading funds have made good use of the predictive tools ... Re lookup Jim Hawkes and Steve Swanson. Rennaisance Technologies has spent a fortune on data and employ scientists to search that data for predictive patterns in the time series ... I would ask you to look up their performance ... if you would like there are many others making a fortune using statistical predictive tools.
