At this point the public has a healthy cynicism about the motives and judgement of poiliticians which makes it difficult for them ( the politicians) to do what they might want to do

Maybe that's a good thing but if a genuine depression occurs the public will be screaming for action .It really is a precarious environment if things genuinely worsen from here , but it looks so bad I wonder if it really is
