The first point is the North Pole.
There are also an infinite number of other points described thus:
The tent could be pitched at any location on the circle of latitude that is exactly 10 + 5/Pi Km North from the south pole. This aproximates to 11.59155Km North of the South Pole.
From his tent (Point A) the explorer walks South 10 Km towards the South Pole taking him to (Point B).
He then walks west for 10km. This takes him in a complete circle (with a circumference of 10km) round the South pole. When he has walked 10 Km he is back at point B.
He then walks North for 10 Km back to Point A.
This is more fun than contemplating my portfolio losses over the last year!
