XPE and Hacking of IOT devices, page-12

My understanding is that this DDOS attack was effected by using a botnet consisting of DVRs and IP connected security cameras - devices with next to no security embedded in them. There's been numerous articles about this class of device and their security issues.
This is part of the problem in having such a fragmented sector where each and every product provider is expected to roll their own security instead of implementing a known good standard.
IMHO, this kind of publicity should be good for XPED - once they and their partners (Intel, Philips, GE, Microsoft etc ???) can demonstrate and illustrate the inherent security of their next-gen IOT devices people should jump on board - like people in a sinking life raft when the Navy comes along (apologies for the poor metaphor).
