I've noticed with my trades commsec offset the balances as most i assume do but they also sometimes settle trades earlier if you've made lots of trades and the trade usually happens late evening on the settlement day. Found as long as you leave a day between it's fine and also happy to even cop a "rejection" occasionally as it attempts to take the money from your account a few times before contacting you and fining you
