The limitation with the Apple way is it always needs a home network router to communicate with anything or an ATV4. Its great for die hard Apple fans.
ADRC talks directly with the controlled device without the need of a WIFI network present.
Presently with Apple you need to buy a home network and be in range of it to control anything, plus pay the usual apple tax for anything designed to work with it. and it is limited to only apple enabled devices. Businesses wont want anything to do with that because of its limitations.
So the expense of setting up an XPED model connection is your phone and a device with an embedded Telink chip for direct connection or a gateway for connecting to all other devices.
To set up it will be cheaper and simpler and be more useful to more people.
Don't forget all the people using Android are going to need something and Home kit wont be that.
