This is an interesting one. I have never heard of ADRC within the IoT stack discussion except for on HC. Intel has not mentioned it. Homekit never. Samsung nope. Alexa by Google....nope.

So please tell me WHERE does ADRC fit in and why are we led to believe it is the be all and end all of the IoT stack to come?

I have heard of lots them.......look below.

I don't see ADRC among this group of protocols.

    Comparing Web and IoT Protocols

The illustration below provides another good summary of the performance benefit that these protocols bring to IoT. From Zach Shelby's presentation “Standards Drive the Internet of Things.”

Comparison of Web and IoT protocol stacks
On the left, the protocol stack for Web applications can easily produce a data overhead of hundreds or thousands of bytes. By comparison, IoT protocols are optimized for constrained devices and networks, and produce a much smaller data overhead of tens of bytes.
