From memory, the Federal Govt committed in 2012-13 budget to fund the NDIS to the tune of something like $ 19.3 Billion (with a 'B ') over the following 8 years, with a full launch across the nation by 2018.
Potential number of clients was estimated at 460,000.
You can bet, this being the Federal Govt, both the cost of the NDIS and the number of clients needing support, will have been seriously underestimated.
Aged care patients are separate to the NDIS. The NDIS was designed to fund the needs of the clients aged under 65 years.
The number of aged care patients is even bigger - and growing each year, due to the ageing of the baby boomer generation.
