Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, today announced that it has developed an innovative digital solution to connect Intelligent LEDs, to GE’s Predix operating system for the Industrial Internet through Intel® Atom™-based gateways, providing critical analytics to save significant time and costs in the manufacturing process.

TCS’ new digital solution provides automatic data collection of ambient room and rotor surface temperatures, measuring for unacceptable variations, notifying workers when the next operation may proceed, and alerting workers to any non-uniformity. This application is built on the intelligent LED platform by GE and Intel that can reduce costs and energy consumption and provide data collection and analytics capabilities. This platform is composed of smart LED fixtures from Current, powered by GE, integrated with sensors that monitor temperature, humidity and any physical object presence, transmitting the data to an Intel® Atom™-based gateway where the information is streamed to the Predix cloud.

Shanghai, China, 14 March 2016 – Telink Semiconductor, developer of highly integrated low power radio-frequency and mixed signal system chips for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, has announced that its Bluetooth mesh technology is being used in connected LED light bulbs from GE Lighting, in its C by GE product family.

Note: My interpretation of C by GE, is "Current, powered by GE", a start-up company by GE.

Current (company)

Current, branded as Current, powered by GE, is an energy company that uses data to deliver energy saving solutions to customers. It was established by General Electric on October 7, 2015, as a startup subsidiary.[1][2] It began with more than $1 billion of revenue with the expectation to grow the business to a $5 billion business by 2020.[3]

On April 21, 2016, Current acquired the building automation company Daintree Networks for $77 million. The plan is to combine Daintree's open-standard wireless network with GE’s open source platform Predix to offer a new energy management system to businesses

Projects

Current announced working with seven global companies, including Hilton, Simon Properties, and the City of San Diego.[6] The company has also partnered with other such companies as AT&T, Intel, and Qualcomm.[7]

It also within the first 5 months (by March 2016) secured the world's largest LED installation with JPMorgan Chase.[6] Under the deal, Current will replace 1.4 million existing lights at 5,000 of JPMorgan Chase's bank branches with LED lighting. The replacement is expected to reduce the lighting-related energy used at these branches by 50 percent.[8]

For the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Current provided 200,000 energy-efficient lights at more than 40 Olympic venues (over 46 million square feet in total), reducing 50 percent of the energy costs.[9]
