5. A User interface that offers customization, Xped DEB/App/XIP

6. Lets also incorporate a protocol stack for low end Chinese electronics to be added to IOT control - ADRC will do

7. Now a telecommunications company is needed to facilitate 5G capabilities (take your pick, lets go with Deutsche Telekom a leader in 5G IOT developments.

8. Now a "cloud layer" is Required Microsoft Azure will do

9. Ok the elements are there but somebody is required to house all the components in one cost effective box, Hello Compal Electronics.

So lets examine the advantages and disadvantages of this box.
Benefits-
Universal IOT platform device Zigbee, Z-wave, Ble etc
Customized UI-re branding possibilities
IOT devices can be controlled independent of HUB
Open ecosystem for multiple devices
Advanced product support due to hardware contributors
5G, distinct advantage over 4G-imagine the back-load on network to support stability
Cost, comparative pricing would be competitive as opposed to been required to lease due to the initial high cost of the box
OCF compatibility/certification
Hardware design is "not" AD HOC
Option for NFC onboarding
Self registration of new devices on Azure
Data propagation support

You get the drift, many more if you delve into the intricacies of it

Disadvantages
Large corporations take time to develop game changing products especially when working together
Standardization is required for product advancement
IP protections are slow and tedious
Tech is constantly changing and so will the requirement of the product in development

One of these products is the future of IOT, the other looks to take advantage of the IOT buzzword.
