agree with you about the divvy, but one thing I never do these days is dividend reinvest ! It makes you a price taker, rather than a price maker ! I also hold Ophir where the 2 principals hold large parcels. They were touting that OPH was undervalued and they were adding to their holdings. So just once, I dividend reinvested at a slight discount to the NTA. They WERE adding to their holdings, but NOT via the dividend reinvestment plan. Of course the SP ended up being considerably lower than my reinvestment price….. so that fixed that ! Another thing is, that if you harvest your dividends, you can buy more of the same share, or, use that dividend as part of a completely new share purchase, OR build up your cash reserves. It gives you more options.
It just gives you greater flexibility and the ability to “round” your shares, rather than have an odd lot or odd number when trying to sell. Just my thoughts.
