Manjaspra, if you break down the email response that ralph posted;
1. Anglo Platinum with its partner ARM filed a formal appeal for review to the DMR.
If the DMR allowed this appeal for review it would run the risk of irreparably damaging the SA mining industry and I don't believe that is a course it would want to embark on.
2. They also initiated a legal process (PAJA) against the awarding of the 9 farms called the Modikwa deeps. The application is against the awarding of the 5 farms to Genora, 3 farms awarded to Bauba and 1 to the Sekhukhuni community.
3. This legal process was to ensure that APL can reserve shareholders value in respect of the rights over the farms, is in compliance with corporate governance and the MPDRA (PAJA).
It seems like APL considers itself to be the local police, why are they needed to reserve shareholders value in respect of the rights over the farms? What business is it of theirs? Isn't this the responsibility of the Department of Mineral Resources? Or is the company referring to its own shareholders? What value does its shareholders have in these farms considering it doesn't even hold the prospecting rights? Anyway, wasn't it this company that was digging up community soccer fields not so long ago? It's very good of them to offer their services nonetheless because they would have nothing to gain from this at all. Yeah, sure.
4. We wish to point out that in parallel with this judicial process, there have been continuous negotiations with the parties facilitated by the DMR aimed at finding a commercial solution on the five farms.
It's always good to have a foot in each camp but it really does nothing to promote one's conviction and credibility.
