NEW YORK, July 7 (Reuters) - Internet media company Yahoo Inc. fell about 13 percent in after-hours trading on Wednesday after it posted a quarterly profit of more than double but gave a weak sales outlook.
Shares of Yahoo fell to $28.43 on the INET electronic brokerage system from $32.60 at its Nasdaq close.
Alcoa Inc. , the world's biggest aluminum producer, fell after it reported sharply increased earnings but the results fell short of Wall Street expectations.
Alcoa was trading at $32 on INET, down from $32.77 at its New York Stock Exchange close.
BMC Software Inc. , a network management software company, also dropped after it lowered its first-quarter profit view, citing delays in customer purchases among its larger accounts. Its shares fell to $15.30 on INET from $16.67 at its NYSE close.
Genentech Inc. was one bright spot after the close. Its shares rose after it posted a higher second-quarter profit on strong sales of its drugs, including the new colon cancer treatment, Avastin. The company raised its profit forecast for the full year. Its shares climbed to $55.20 on INET from $53.90 at its NYSE close.
