"Sigma reveals party of takeover approach

Drugs maker and distributor Sigma Pharmaceuticals Ltd says a takeover approach made last week came from Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Ltd.
"Sigma is now able to confirm that the party referred to in Sigma's announcement of 21 May 2010 is Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited," Sigma general counsel and company secretary Sue Morgan-Dethick said in a statement on Monday.
Ms Morgan-Dethick said the Sigma board was considering the proposal and recommended that shareholders take no action at this stage.
"Sigma will make a further announcement in due course," she said.
Sigma said on Friday it had received a takeover offer of 60 cents per share by way of a scheme of arrangement or other whole of business transaction.
The offer values the company at about $707 million.
