Singapore is one of the safest places for people on this planet, I know of none safer. Even you can walk through parks or lonely lanes in the middle of the night without the fear of being accosted.

Muggings and overdosing on drugs are virtually unheard of and children are very safe from predators.

Sure the punishment for offending is severe, whilst I was there I read of a man who accosted an underage girl on a bus, he earned himself 16 lashes with the cane and some jail time, and other travelers on the bus were happy to hold him till the police arrived

I don't agree with everything what goes on there but the proof is in the pudding.
